The picture was taken at the Zoo Praha, Czech Republic. It was quite a long journey to saw this kind of crocodile the first time but it was worth it: we take some great pictures of this fascinating animal. Actually it’s an indian gavial, the only surviving member of the once well-represented family Gavialidae (Gavialis gangeticus), a long-established group of crocodilians with long, slender snouts. The gharial is listed as a critically endangered species by IUCN.
